Merrie Monarch 2025

🌺 *Bringing Back the Muʻumuʻu: A Merrie Monarch Pop-Up Filled with Vintage Aloha*

This week, I’m packing up my favorite vintage muʻumuus and hopping over to Hilo for a two-day pop-up during the Merrie Monarch Festival — and I couldn’t be more excited.

There’s truly no better place to celebrate the beauty of Hawaiian culture, hula, and heritage than right here during Merrie Monarch. And for me, that celebration isn’t complete without honoring the muʻumuʻu — those flowy, feminine dresses that once hung proudly in every Hawaiʻi woman’s closet.

Rediscovering Treasures From the Past

For years, I’ve heard stories from customers who tell me how their mothers, aunties, and tutus wore muʻumuʻus with such grace and pride. But as fashion trends shifted, many people gave theirs away — not realizing how treasured and timeless these garments truly were.

At every pop-up, I meet someone who tries one on “just for fun” — and then stands in front of the mirror swaying and smiling, sometimes with a tear in their eye. It’s like the fabric carries their memories: backyard pāʻinas, church on Sunday, family portraits, and everyday aloha.

The Muʻumuʻu Movement

There’s a quiet renaissance happening — a return to vintage Hawaiian fashion that feels both nostalgic and fresh. More and more women are choosing to wear muʻumuʻus again, not just for special occasions, but as a daily expression of comfort, confidence, and connection.

My mission is to perpetuate that tradition— to help women see themselves in these dresses the way their grandmothers and mothers once did. To reclaim the beauty and boldness of wearing something made with love and intention.

Come Say Aloha in Hilo

If you’ll be on the Big Island during Merrie Monarch, come find me! I’ll have a curated collection of one-of-a-kind vintage muʻumuʻus — each with its own story, waiting to be worn again. Whether you're looking for something bold and floral, soft and romantic, or just want to reconnect with a piece of Hawaiʻi’s fashion history, I’d love to see you.

Let’s bring back the muʻumuʻu — one beautiful dress (and one beautiful memory) at a time. 💕
